Born in Timișoara, Romania, Miruna Stoca divides her time between Mont Pèlerin, Switzerland, and a studio in the village of Vad, Transylvania — a place that remains close to her roots and central to her creative practice.
Although beginning her journey as a self-taught ceramist, Miruna has been fortunate to learn from many incredible teachers along the way. Among them Nama Kolnik in Switzerland, and Luca Tripaldi and Frances Savage at the renowned La Meridiana International School of Ceramics in Certaldo, Italy
Her work explores form and texture through hand-built and sculptural ceramics, and has found its way into private collections in Switzerland, Greece, the UK, and the United States.

Artistic Statement
I came to clay searching for a new way to tell stories.
As a professional psychotherapist, I have spent a lifetime listening to people — holding their stories, inhabiting their worlds. Stories about identity, roots, belonging, motherhood, separation, loss, and joy. These are not only the stories of others; they are mine too.
Clay offered itself as a new language. I work it with coils and slabs, I throw it on the wheel, forever charmed by its flexibility and the way it responds to touch. Whether in stoneware or porcelain, I find truth in creating objects that are at once raw and elegant, traditional and playful — pieces that carry traces of my movements, my feelings, my contradictions.
I look for shapes, colours and textures that speak to the connections between my Romanian-Transylvanian roots and my life among new cultures, new habits, new languages.
And because a language only truly makes sense when it reaches another person, I hope deeply that my objects can be seen, felt, and heard — and that they bring joy.
